Martin E. Leshin

Martin LeshinMartin E. Leshin (Marty) is President and Chief Executive Officer of Varen Technologies, Inc. Marty has more than 30 years of experience managing professional services organizations in the engineering and information technology areas. Marty formed Varen Technologies after leaving Booz Allen Hamilton where he was a Partner. At Booz Allen, he was responsible for managing all aspects of business development, program management and administration. Marty’s extensive experience has focused on both acquiring and growing business as well as managing the resulting technical and engineering contracts for the Department of Defense and Intelligence sectors.

Marty earned a BSEE from the University of Akron and an MSEE from the University of Maryland, College Park. He currently serves on the Industrial Advisory Board for the University of MD Baltimore County (UMBC) College of Engineering and is a member of the IEEE and AFCEA.


Herbert B. Hinton

Herbert HintonHerbert B. Hinton (Burt) is a Director for Varen Technologies, Inc. Burt has more than 25 years of experience in all facets of managing information technology organizations. Burt joined Varen Technologies after leaving Booz Allen Hamilton where he was a Principal. At Booz Allen, he was responsible for managing all aspects of business development, program management and administration for the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) market. Prior to Booz Allen, Burt was a Director with Sterling Software responsible for the Intelligence Community market management and mission product development. Burt has grown substantial market sectors valued at over a 100M in annual revenue.

Burt earned a BSCS from the University of Kentucky and an MSCS from Creighton University. He has completed all but his dissertation towards a Doctorate in Computer Engineering from the University of South Florida. He has taught Computer Science at three different universities. He currently is a member of the AFCEA and IEEE.


Paul L. Weidow

Paul WeidowPaul L. Weidow joined Varen Technologies in April 2006 as a Director. He has served the Intelligence Community and the Aerospace Industry in all facets of engineering and information technology for more than 17 years. Prior to joining Varen, Paul was the Vice President of Intelligence Programs at Pangia Technologies with responsibility for all business activities across the Intelligence Community. Before Pangia, Paul served as the Business Director for Henggeler Computer Consultants where he was responsible for all program management and business development activities. Paul also worked at Booz Allen Hamilton from 1996-2003, where his career encompassed software engineering, natural language processing, and project and program management. While at Booz Allen, Paul was instrumental in the formation of the Workforce Leadership Council, and served as the President of the Baltimore Chapter for two years. Paul also formed a company chapter of Toastmasters International and served as president of this chapter, the Baltim-Orators, for two years. Paul began his career at the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), where he worked as an aerospace engineer in the fields of vibro-acoustics and spacecraft environment simulation.

Paul holds Bachelor of Science degrees in Computer Science and Aerospace Engineering from the University of Maryland. He currently is a member of AFCEA, Toastmasters, and a sponsor of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.


Debra L. Pope

Debra PopeDebra L. Pope (Deb) is a Director for Varen Technologies, Inc. Deb has over 22 years of experience in the Intelligence Community providing Program and Project Management support. Her focus at Varen is Business Process Modeling, Application Training, and Systems Integration and Project Management. Most recently Deb was a Vice President at Pearson Analytic Solutions responsible for building and managing a consulting business for the Intelligence Community. Prior to that she was at Booz Allen Hamilton as a Senior Associate where she was responsible for Program Management and Business Development of Systems business within the Central Intelligence Agency. Deb has over eleven years of professional experience in the information technology field including network support, testing, documentation, and Lotus Notes development. She also has thirty-four years of professional experience in training, which includes nine years of computer application training for end users.

Deb received a B.S. in Recreation Leadership from the University of Maryland, a Masters Certificate in Telecommunications and a M.S. in Information Systems from Johns Hopkins University. Deb is a member of United Who’s Who of Executives, a member of the Project Management Institute and certified as a Project Manager Professional.
